Expectations for Speech-Language Sessions

  • I have two expectations for behavior during speech and language sessions:

    1.  Try your best.  Everything that I ask your child to do is difficult for them.  I do not expect perfection, I only expect that they try the task to the best of their ability.  If they do this, they will perfect the skill by the end of our time together.

    2.  Be supportive of the other students in the group.  I most often work with children in groups.  It is very important that each child feels safe to try tasks that they have difficulty with.  This means that there will be no laughing at or imitating other children.  I have found that any issues with this can be dealt with effectively with a discussion about the situation and having empathy for others.
