02.08.2021 Last Chance for Yearbook Photos!
Good morning everyone,
With everything that has been going on this year and the inability of getting your photo taken by our photo company for whatever reason, we wanted to offer one VERY LAST chance to get your yearbook picture taken. Because of time restrictions with the yearbook company and getting it still processed and in your hands this year, we will be having a photo opportunity for you to come in and get your picture taken on February 16th from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm in the music department lab area.We are asking you to please complete this sign up: Click here to go to signup to reserve a time to come in when you are available before school, study hall, lunch, enrichment period or after school. If there are no slots available during a time you are available, let Mr. Gefvert, Mr. Rousseau or me know as soon as possible and we will find a time during that day to get your photo taken. If you have any questions, please feel free to let one of the three of us know. Please know that if you are receiving this email, we currently do NOT have a yearbook photo for you and unless you get one taken during this time, will not be included in the student photo section of the yearbook this year. Thanks for your help with this everyone and have a great rest of your Monday.Mr. H -

01.27.2021 Course Selection 2021-2022
Hello FAHS families, students and staff,
Hopefully, you have seen the previous communications with regards to our course selection process this year and that it will be changing from previous years. This message is being sent to provide further details about the process. Between now and February 5th, 2021, students will be hearing from their teachers about specific courses in their subject areas, planning their course selections for the 2021-2022 school year and watching several video presentations about the course selection process. Please work with your student in choosing their courses next year very carefully. We encourage you to talk with them about their goals, areas of interest, and classes that will help them meet their post-high school needs to get them ready for what’s next. This year, we have compiled everything necessary to plan for the course selection process online at this website: Course Selection Page or through the course selection tab on the high school webpage.
In place of our originally scheduled dates of in-person course selection on February 4th and February 8th, during the week of February 8th, students will be inputting their selection of classes for next year into PowerSchool. This process will take place during their homeroom/enrichment period with cohort 1 entering their classes into PowerSchool on Wednesday, February 10th. Cohort 2 will enter their classes into PowerSchool on Thursday, February 11th. It is extremely important for all students regardless of their cohort, to be in attendance in-person or virtually, for their enrichment periods during these course selection days, February 8th, 10th and 11th. During these periods, more detailed procedural information will be shared with them by their homeroom teachers. Counselors will also be available for assistance and answering questions.
For incoming freshmen from Fort Atkinson Middle School, a separate communication will also be sent from FAMS with further specific details on when and how they will complete course selection this year.
Thank you in advance for working together to insure this year’s course selection creates opportunities to get our students ready for what’s next!

01.22.2021 PreACT Test - Class of 2022
Dear Class of 2022 Fort Atkinson Families,
With the ACT fast approaching on March 9th, we want all students to be as prepared as possible. The PreACT test, which most Juniors had taken at the beginning of Sophomore year, will give your child the opportunity to test their skills and readiness before the state mandated assessment. Being familiar with the test and practice can have the benefit of significantly increasing their scores which can have tremendous benefits when applying to universities and tech schools as well as when applying for local and national scholarships.
On January 27th and 28th, Fort Atkinson High School will be administering the PreACT for all Class of 2022 Juniors in the high School Gymnasium. We anticipate that students will have results in their hands up to three weeks prior to the ACT in March as a means to guide their preparation and to get support from teachers in subject areas.
PreACT is approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes long and consists of 4 tests in Reading (30), English (30), Science (30), and Math (40). There are about 60 minutes of pre-administration activities. The questions on the exam will be questions from past ACTs that have been reformulated, so the difficulty level of the test is on par with the regular ACT.
In order to follow physical distancing safety guidelines students will be testing in their cohort groups. Masks are required at all times in the building, students will be sanitizing in and out of the testing area and spaced at least six feet apart during the test.
Testing days

Please contact Mr. Adam Rousseau, Associate Principal rousseaua@fortschools.org with any questions or concerns!

01.18.2021 Chromebook Exchange
Good afternoon FAHS class of 2024 families,
If your freshmen student has a silver Samsung Chromebook, over the next two days, we will be exchanging them for new ones in our IMC during their Enrichment period from 12:53-1:39. For students in Cohort 2, we will be doing this tomorrow, Tuesday, January 19th. For students in Cohort 1, we will be doing this on Wednesday, January 20th. If your student is in a full-virtual environment for their classes, please contact Mrs. Jacobs (jacobsc@fortschools.org) or Mr. Allie (alliem@fortschools.org) in the high school IMC to coordinate an exchange with Thursday's materials pick up. It is imperative that they bring them to school with the charging cord for the exchange to occur. If you have questions or are unable to make any of these dates, please work with your students associate principal to coordinate an exchange of the silver Samsung Chromebook.

12.31.2020 January 5th Return of In-Person reminders
Good afternoon FAHS families, staff and students,
We hope all of you are having an excellent holiday break and are as excited as we are to welcome in a new year with our return to in-person learning options on January 5th. We wanted to touch base with you with some reminder details that were sent out before break about our return.- There will be no students in the building for classes during the day on January 4th.
- All expectations of physical distancing, face coverings at all possible times and constant hand washing/sanitation processes will remain in place and enforced.
- Our return will be on the normal A/B rotation and the normal length scheduled day from 7:50 am-3:10 pm every day including our normal 3 lunch periods during the 3rd block. Please see the attached daily bell schedule.
- Enrichment will be as it normally has with every Monday's enrichment slotted as a "no-move" Monday for students to sign up for enrichment periods throughout the week beginning on January 11th.
- Cohort 1 of students (last name beginning with the letters A-K and others that have been contacted separately) with an "A" day scheduled that Tuesday will be allowed to return in person while cohort 2 students (last names beginning with letters L-Z) will be expected to attend classes virtually. On Wednesday, January 6th, cohort 1 students will again be in person with cohort 2 students attending virtually for everyone's "B" day. Beginning on January 7th, the opposite rotation will happen for two days of cohort 2 in-person while cohort 1 students will be virtual. Make sure to take a look at the attached January calendar if you have questions. Students that have been attending already in-person, should have been contacted already by their teacher or counselor and have the option of being a part of cohort 1 and 2.
- The expectation is that students that have scheduled study halls will still attend all study halls in person while in person and check in with their study hall supervisor when in virtual learning format.
- Attendance, grading and other normal expectations of school will still be in place and enforced regardless of the format a student is in.
- January 11th, 18th and 25th will be 1:30 pm early release days. The schedule for each of those are incorporated into the daily bell schedule attachment
Everyone's flexibility and hard work will not only be appreciated but also critical for academic success as we wrap this semester up. Individual teachers will communicate what semester exams will entail as they will vary subject to subject and the overall bell schedule will not change. As we have had in the past, if a student has any days scheduled with 3 or more exams, they will need to contact their associate principal and teacher to help work through the situation. Obviously, with a change of this magnitude, there will be many more details to work through than this brief list can provide. This is meant as an overview and as we start the process, will constantly be evaluating and assessing if changes are necessary and improvements can be made. If there are any that should arise, we will do our best to communicate them as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
Thank you all in advance for your patience and dedication to getting these processes into place and I hope you have a great rest of your winter break!

11.12.2020 Josten's Graduation Information
Good morning everyone,
If you're like me, you're amazed that we're already into the 2nd week of November! Having said that, before you know it, we'll be looking at planning out your graduation and what all that will entail too. Part of that process normally would include a presentation by our Jostens representative, Mr. Chad Kilton. Because we can't meet in person this year in our auditorium, he has created a video overview for you to watch with regards to things to help plan that part of your high school career out.FAHS Jostens Overview .
Please make sure to watch the video and if you have any questions, follow the instructions he gives at the end of the video to contact him directly. I've also included him in this email so you have his address as well. Thanks everyone and keep pushing yourselves to your very best!Mr. H
