PARENT INFORMATION & SUMMER SAFETY GUIDELINES

Access to school/Drop-off:
Students can be dropped off at 7:30 AM and will have access to the playground, supervision will be provided on the playground prior to the building doors opening at 8:00 AM. We will lock all exterior doors beginning at 8:15AM and unlock them again at 11:45AM for summer school pick-up. If you need to enter the building between 8:15-11:45AM you will have to use the “buzz-in system” at the parking lot and drop off entrances to the school. An office staff member will greet you and ask you to state your name and the purpose of your visit.

Bussing to Luther & Purdy:
Students that live on the northside of Fort Atkinson have the option of taking the bus from Barrie or Rockwell. The bus will pick up and drop off at these respective locations. Pick up times will be at 7:30AM at Rockwell and 7:30AM at Barrie. Students will then be dropped off at Luther by 8:00AM. Students will then board the same bus at 11:55AM dismissal time and be dropped off at the school they departed from earlier in the morning. Expected arrival time after Summer School at drop off sites is between 12:15PM and 12:30PM.

Communication:
In the event of an emergency, parents will be sent a message via phone, email, and/or text. Please be sure that your information is current. If you need to make changes on your personal information including address, phone number, etc., please use forms included in this mailing and return to the school district.

Electronics/Toys:
Students should not bring electronic devices or toys to summer school classes. These items are not necessary and can cause a disruption to the learning environment.

Emergencies:
We will practice fire drills and tornado drills so children are familiar with proper routines.

Student dress code:
The school has air conditioning and it is set at a comfortable temperature. Students are allowed to wear shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, and sandals. Please be aware of your child’s classes and how they need to be properly dressed to allow them to work to their potential.

Technology:
Some classes will be using District technology for learning. Please know that students in these classes may be accessing a google account, which would include a google email for login purposes. All students are expected to adhere to our School Board Policy 363.2, regarding technology and its appropriate uses.

Nurses:
A certified nurse will be at Luther and Purdy during summer school. This person is able to assist with injuries or medical accidents that may occur on school grounds. If your child has a specific health need and you would like to speak with the school nurse, please email summerschool@fortschools.org and we will connect you to her.

Luther - Student Name Tags:
Your child will receive a summer school name tag with his/her schedule on it the first day of classes. Please be sure to send this with your child each day during summer school as it greatly assists in student safety and helping students find their classes.

Luther - Pick-up:
Please be sure that your child understands where they will go after summer school dismisses at 11:55AM. Here are several options and information in regard to each scenario:
- BASE (Badgerland After School Enrichment Program- formerly Boys & Girls Club): Students should report to the café. BASE staff will walk students to Purdy for lunch and programming. (BASE is located at Purdy Elementary all summer.) NOTE: students must sign-up for BASE at basefortatkinson.org.
- Bus to Barrie or Rockwell: Students taking the bus should line up in the back of the school, we will have them line up on the sidewalk adjacent to the parking lot.
- Parent pick up: Students will be lined up in designated areas in the front of the school. We will have them grouped by respective grade levels. Please look for the grade level sign so you know where each grade level will be standing for pick up.

Purdy - Pick Up:
Please be sure that your child understands where they will go after summer school dismisses at 11:55AM. Here are several options and information in regard to each scenario:
- BASE (formerly Boys and Girls Club) – Students should report to the Purdy Lunch Room. A member of BASE will meet the students to prepare them for lunch and afternoon activities.
- Bus to Barrie or Rockwell – Students taking the bus should line up in the bus line area in the front of the school.
- Parent Pick Up – Parents may park in the side lot, but MAY NOT use the bus driveway. Another alternative is to park on the close side streets and walk the short distance to meet your child. Regardless of the place, please be sure you have a clear meeting spot with your child.

Reporting a child absent:
To report your child absent, please call the Luther School office at 920-563-7828.
If your child attends classes at Purdy School, please call 920-563-7822
If a child is absent and parents have not notified the school office, an office staff member will call parents for a reason of absence.
