The Music Man! - FACT Summer Production



Seventy six trombones will be leading the River City Children's Band to Fort Atkinson this summer in FACT's final production of the 2015-2016 season, Meredith Willson's The Music Man! This timeless musical tells the story of charming con man, Professor Harold Hill, and his antics in River City, Iowa. Along the way he meets up with old friends, the colorful townspeople of River City, and crosses the path of the town librarian, Marian Paroo. This musical features a hilarious cast of characters and beloved songs, including "Seventy Six Trombones", "Till there was You", "Goodnight Ladies" and many more. The Music Man is a classic tale that will have all ages tapping their toes and singing along. The Music Man will be performed at Fort Atkinson High School July 9th, 10th, 15th and 16th.


"Take a trip to River City Iowa this summer in the Fort Atkinson Community Theatre's (FACT) production of "Meredith Willson's The Music Man." This Broadway classic tells the story of the charming con man Harold Hill, Marion Paroo, and the colorful townspeople of River City. "The Music Man," features a hilarious cast of characters and beloved songs, including "Seventy Six Trombones," "Till there was you," and many more. Auditions were held recently and FACT is excited to announce the cast and crew of this summer's production

Leading the cast as Professor Harold Hill, is veteran FACT performer Scott Vechinsky, and joining him in the role of Marion Paroo is Nicole McCarty. Playing Marion’s mother Mrs. Paroo and brother Winthrop are Kim Stachowiak and Toby Weisensel. Taking on the role of Harold’s friend Marcellus Washburn will be Thomas McDonald. Rich Vurva joins the cast as Mayor Shinn, and portraying the rest of the Shinn family are Amy Nelson as Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn, Hope O’Reilly as Zaneeta Shinn, and Halie Kapelke as Gracie Shinn. 

Town trouble maker Tommy Djilas will be played by Nathan Kozak, and young Amaryllis will be played by Farah Stuebs.   The River City School Board & Barbershop Quartet will be Chris Buckingham-Taylor as Jacey Squires, Nate Erb as Ewart Dunlap, Tim Stachowiak as Oliver Hix, and Jeremy Winters as Olin Britt. Joining the cast as Eulalie’s band of Pick-A-Little Ladies are Faith O'Reilly as Ethel Toffelmier, Payton Thompson as Mrs. Squires, Mary Beth Klietz as Maud Dunlop, Alyssa DeJong as Alma Hix, and Jill Winters as Mrs. Brit. Paul Wydeven will portray anvil salesman Charlie Cowell, and Mike Hall as Constable Locke & the Train Conductor.    

Rounding out this cast as members of the River City Kid’s Band, dancers and towns folk are Gini Cooper, Ronan O’Reilly, Joseph Cooper, Hannah Robel, Josiah Kapelke, Kaitlyn Robbins,Sydney Schuette, Sydney Maas, Matthew Sell, Cole McDonald, Abigail Troia, Aspen Wolter, Kieran O’Reilly, Zia Wolter, Raighnan O’Reilly, Lillijana Goeschko, Kylie Kapelke, Sami Hall, Madyson McWilliam, Laney Janczy, Nora Hartford, Stepahnie Schaefer, Erica Jacobson, Valoire Schamens, Rose Beach, Molly Ebel, Heather Shawlin, Sheila Turek, Karen Wydeven, and Norm Goeschko.   

Leading the cast behind the scenes is the wonderful crew: Directing staff Jeannie Vechinsky, Jocelyn McGurk, and Megan Miller, Vocal Directors Jeannie Vechinsky & Nicole McCarty, Choreograher Megan Miller, Costumer Angie Griffith, Pit Director Jusitn Steger, Backstage Manager Hope Kapelke and Tech Director Katie Gundlach.   “Meredith Willson’s The Music Man” will be performed at The Fort Atkinson High School Auditorium July 9th, 10th, 15th, and 16th.
