Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Resources
Welcome to the School District of Fort Atkinson Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) website. This is meant to be a one-stop shop for parents / guardians and educators to access PBIS related resources. PBIS is an initiative that encourages adults to teach common social and behavioral expectations to children using common language. The School District of Fort Atkinson implemented PBIS in our four elementary schools in the fall of 2012. Overall, PBIS has been embraced by students, staff, and parents/guardians. We have seen our staff spending less time on disciplinary measures and consequences and more time on building academic skills and establishing relationships.
As we continue to work with educators and parents / guardians to hone this initiative and make it successful for all in both the school and the home, we hope this website is an opportunity to share resources that can work for both educators and parents alike. If you have any feedback and/or ideas regarding PBIS, feel free to contact Lisa Hollenberger, Director of Pupil Services.
