BOARD POLICY 454
454 - Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse or Neglect
District employees having reasonable cause to suspect that a child has been abused or neglected or has been threatened with abuse or neglect shall report their suspicions, as required by law. District employees shall follow procedural guidelines.
Any person making a report in good faith under this policy shall have immunity from any liability--civil or criminal--that results by reason of the action of reporting, and no person making such a report may be disciplined or discharged from employment for so doing. The identity of the person making such a report shall be regarded as confidential and may be released only as provided by law. State law requires the School District to defend or pay the cost of the defense for any lawsuit against a mandated reporter who is an employee and acting within the scope of his or her employment.
