The School District of Fort Atkinson Board does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, sex (including transgender status, change of sex or gender identity), or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability (“Protected Classes”) in any of its student programs and activities.

    Equal Opportunity/Discrimination
The School District of Fort Atkinson is an equal-opportunity employer. It is the policy of the District that no person may be illegally discriminated against in employment on the basis of any characteristic protected under state or federal law, including, but not limited to: age, race, creed, color, disability, pregnancy, marital status, sex, citizenship, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, arrest record, conviction record, military service, membership in the National Guard, state defense force or any other reserve component of the military forces of Wisconsin or the United States, political affiliation, use or nonuse of lawful products off the employer's premises during non-working hours, declining to attend a meeting or to participate in any communication about religious matters or political matters, the authorized use of family or medical leave or worker's compensation benefits, or genetic information.

The District encourages informal resolution of complaints under this policy.  A formal complaint resolution procedure is available to address allegations of violations of the policy in the District.

    Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act (WFEA) prohibit employment discrimination against “qualified individuals with disabilities.” In accordance with these laws, the District commits to providing reasonable accommodations to its employees in assuring that individuals with disabilities enjoy full access to equal employment opportunities.

Accordingly, the District will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities when such are directly related to performing the essential function of a job. An employee requiring a modified work environment as the result of a disability may request a reasonable accommodation. To request an accommodation, the employee should contact the Human Resources Department.

As part of this request, the employee must provide medical verification of the need for the accommodation and may be required to sign an Authorization for Release of Medical Records to allow the District to communicate with the employee’s health care providers. All information received during this process, whether written or verbal, will be kept confidential and disclosed only to those individuals who are relevant to the decision process. The Human Resources Department will review requests for accommodation. Approved accommodations will be reevaluated periodically to ensure that they remain necessary, reasonable and effective.
